Hi, I’m Sarah. I have 5+ years’ experience of working in CAMHS in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, supporting children, young people and families to unite and take back control of their lives. I have recently completed a MSC in Systemic Family & Couples Psychotherapy with Manchester University.
I am experienced in:
- Offering a therapeutic space to those struggling with mental illness
- Offering support to parents/ siblings of someone who struggles with mental illness
- Working with parents to explore parenting styles influenced by PACE* and NVR** approaches
- Working with young people with eating disorders/ disordered eating/ self-harm / low mood
I appreciate the complications and disruptions mental illness can bring into family life and hope to create opportunity for those in close relationships to:
- Try to understand each other better
- Be able to express and explore difficult emotions safely
- Understand each other’s experiences and views
- Appreciate each other’s needs
- Build on family strengths
- Work together to make useful changes in your lives
You are welcome to get in touch to explore your thoughts, feelings & actions, with scope for me to provide psychoeducation around a variety of topics such as:
- Eating disorders/ disordered eating
- Self-harm
- Low mood/ depression
- Trauma
- Identity
- Communication and relationships
*PACE – Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity & Empathy (created by Dan Hughes)
