Matt Calvert Psychotherapist Nottingham

Matt Calvert

Hi, my name’s Matt. I’m an integrative psychotherapist and neuro-affirming student mentor. I have a private practice here at the Sage where I see clients on both short- and open-ended terms. I hold a BSc (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy, awarded by the University of Staffordshire and completed through the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute.

Choosing a therapist and beginning therapy can feel daunting. Some people come with a specific issue they want to focus on, while others have a more general sense that something isn’t quite right and want to explore deeper themes, patterns, or questions about who they are and why they feel the way they do. Many clients find that working with both the immediate concern and the wider context helps them make better sense of their lives.

My style of therapy is integrative, which means I don’t follow one single approach. Instead, I draw on a range of psychological and relational theories to find the most helpful way of working for you. I aim to meet you where you are and, together, understand your experience as fully as possible. From this shared understanding, therapy can support change, growth, and a clearer way forward, both in the present and over time.

Striving Lotus Psychotherapy:

My practice, named Striving Lotus Psychotherapy, draws inspiration from the powerful symbolism of the lotus flower, which rises through muddy waters to bloom in the light. This journey mirrors the therapeutic process, emerging from confusion, pain and trauma towards clarity, growth and self-acceptance. Rooted in the belief that each person has an innate capacity for healing. Striving Lotus Psychotherapy provides a compassionate and grounded space for transformation to unfold. Even in life’s most challenging conditions.

Training, qualifications & experience:
